Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation 1994 ½

Reviewed Jun 06, 2012

It took 90 minutes for director Kim Henkel to turn Leatherface, one of the most terrifying horror icons ever seen on film, into a ridiculous over the top crossdressing joke. Instead of scaring me, he just annoyed the hell out of me like every character on screen. There's a reason Matthew McCaughnhy and Renee Zellweger tried so hard for this not to get released. I'm surprised it did'nt kill their careers. It already killed a franchise and wasted my eyeballs.

  • I'm a sick and deprived person because even though I know this movie is completely horrible and you're review has to be right on the money... I still need to eventually see this.

  • I'd rather Letherface hit me with a mallet then me see this movie again

  • This is a guilty pleasure for me. It's so bad I almost love it. I don't even think anyone gets killed with a chainsaw.

  • @Mr.Dulac If you really think you need to see this so badly, brass yourself. Most likely, you're not gona like what you see.

@Filmslayer I'd love for Leatherface to hit me with a mallet because I might get knocked out so hard I forget this film ever existed...or die. I'd prefer the former opposed to dying though.

@grooveman :0 You might be the first person I know of to love this. I can understand why; afterall for some it's laughably bad but for me, it's one of the worst films I've ever seen. It's so bad it's terribly bizarre in my book.

  • @silent Joe you got a point there, as long as it didn't kill me

  • @Silentjoe. I totally get the hate for this film. It is terrible!! This came out when I was 11 and I probably saw it when it when I was about 12. It was the first TCM film I saw and I thought it was Bat-shit crazy. It still is!! If I saw this now for the first time I'm almost positive I'd hate it.

  • How ironic! This was my first TCM film too at 11! The only thing I knew about Leatherface were clips I saw on these scariest horror moments countdown show that would come on tv. It was on Syfy or Bravo. I forget, but the scenes I saw from Leatherface scared the shit out of me and I was curious to see this film shortly afterwards. This was on tv afterwards so my curiosity intensified and I had high expectations. At the time I saw this, it was probably the worst film I ever saw. I liked and was kinda scared when I saw TCM (original and remake) years later, but I could never forget how stupid this film was.
