Sean Byron’s review published on Letterboxd :
Sure, the plot is kind of stupid. Yes, there are some big questions left unanswered. Part of it don't make sense. It was written by one of the LOST guys, after all.
But seriously - compare this to the other sci-fi prequels we've had recently. THE THING? Star Wars Prequelogy? This thing is rock fucking solid compared to those turds. So maybe it's a function of low expectations, but I really enjoyed myself watching this.
There's a nice slow build through the film, in the tradition of the original - and the world they've created looks great. The lead performances are all very good - I really enjoy Noomi Rapace's character - while not Ripley, she is at least an acceptable substitute.
I know lots of people who are hating on this, and maybe my cynicism generator is just broken, but I can't find it in my heart to hate on this one. It's not perfect, but it's a good time at the multiplex.
