Bite-sized Chunks of Terror! Horror Anthology Films.
An anthology film (also known as an omnibus film, package film, or portmanteau film) is a feature film consisting of several different short films, often tied together by only a single theme, premise, or brief interlocking event (often a turning point). Sometimes each one is directed by a different director.
Horror anthology films were popular during the 1970s and 80s, but continue to be made today, and have existed since at least 1945's Dead of Night by the UK's Ealing Studios, and likely earlier.
These horror anthology films can be greatly effective for the same reasons the Twilight Zone television show were effective - often the bizarre, twisted stories they contain are more effectively contained in a shorter vignette rather than a full length feature.
