The Burning 1981 ★½

Watched Apr 10, 2012

"The Burning" is much like the burning you experience after eating an entire bag of flamin' hot Cheetos; Painful.

This came out the summer after "Friday the 13th" and tried to cash in on the summer camp killing spree. They even enlisted Tom Savini to do makeup (who also did the makeup on "Friday the 13th").

Sure it's fun to see Jason Alexander with hair, but that can only entertain for so long. Let's face it, the girls aren't that good looking, the kills are boring and when something finally interesting happens (which never is really that interesting) it's too late and I could care less.

The lead male (Todd) is dressed like Ash from "Evil Dead" and even carries around an axe. Sign of the times I guess, both movies were made the same year. Give me Bruce Campbell any day over this schmuck.

I could go into the fact this also stars Fisher Stevens and Holly Hunter but I feel I've already wasted too much digital bandwidth.
