Documentaries that I want to watch.
A lot of promising stuff in here. Thanks! Added a number of those to my own watchlist.
Great list. I particularly enjoyed Anvil - it's surely one of the most remarkable/honest/brilliant music docos around.
I just wanted to put a plug in for a lesser known Canadian doco called The Devil at Your Heels from 1981. One of those rare moments where the filmmaker starts out with no idea or expectation of where things are going to head...
Thanks guys — it's taking me a lot longer to get to some of these than I thought it would, but I do love a good documentary :)
@Michael: thanks for the suggestion, I've added it to the list.
The Joan Rivers doco is surprisingly fascinating and touching. I have a whole new perspective (and respect) on her after watching it. Senna is heartbreakingly beautiful. Great list - enjoy watching them!
"Hearts of Darkness" was possibly my first interaction with a 'making of', way back in the mid-nineties (before DVDs and extras came around).
Recently picked it up with "Apoc. Now" on BD and it's *still* an incredible story of film-making. Truly mental.
Too awesome for words.
The Paradise Lost trilogy is essential!
Just saw Being Elmo and loved it. I need to see more of these. Great list.
One of the best documentaries I've seen, which I highly recommend, is And Everything Is Going Fine.
@Michael Thanks, I've added that to the list! Never heard of Spalding Gray, but it sounds interesting.
