  • Great list, you gave me a lot to check out. Did you ever see the Beastie Boys handheld concert film, Awesome I Shot That by any chance??

  • @Josh Yes, I actually have that one on DVD! I knew there were some I'd forget ;)
I can't guarantee all of these are good, by the way... many of them are great, but some of them I watched a looooong time ago and are just in the list because I want it to be as complete as possible.

  • A few recommendations:

Anvil: The Story of Anvil, Metal: A Headbangers Journey, Global Metal, Get Thrashed, The Other F Word, Who is Harry Nilsson? (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him), The Devil and Daniel Johnston

  • @jrobich I've got Anvil on my watchlist, and I've seen The Other F Word mentioned around here in other lists. I think I've seen some of The Devil and Daniel Johnston, but not all of it... and I'll go look up the rest! Thanks.

  • "Iron Maiden: Flight 666"

    Loved every second of it.

  • @Hector Oh my god, that looks like a shit-tonne of fun. Added to my doco watchlist, thanks :)

  • I've got to second the nomination for Who Is Harry Nilsson (And Why Is Everybody Talkin' About Him)? It is a fantastically honest portrait of a true American maverick, and it had me in floods of tears during its final sequence, with "Turn On Your Radio" playing, and Harry's beautiful '72 pipes turning air vibrating out of a mouth into pure magic. Oh, Harry...

  • I caught it at one of the few cinema screenings and the full-house audience rocked the hell out through the whole thing.

I don't know if it's still available, but there was a 2-disc version which included the complete concert film as well as the doco itself. It's killer.

  • @Devon @Hector I just checked out the trailer — will definitely have to watch that one. I recognised a bunch of the tunes, even if I didn't recognise the name!
