In Time 2011
I wanted to rate this film better, I really did, but I can't bring myself to do it. There's nothing inherently wrong with it, but there was a lot more potential at the script level. That said I did enjoy it a fair amount. It's worth seeing if you haven't watched it, but it won't become your new favourite.

The Descendants 2011
I'm not crazy about George Clooney, but his performance in this movie is incredible. It's a beautiful tale about doing the right thing that's emotionally gripping.
Be sure you're able to get locked in with a charged story, and try to be immersed in the sound - it's simple but extremely effective sound design. -

Prometheus 2012
I haven't watched Alien, and I wasn't much for this film. The surprises were few, the acting felt average, and I left thinking.....okay. Outside of the the context in which it belongs, there isn't much here.

The Avengers 2012
A fantastic action film that doesn't misplace the plot in the pursuit of creating excitement.

21 Jump Street 2012
If you need a good laugh 21 Jump Street will provide, but be prepared for crude themes throughout.
-
Moonrise Kingdom 2012
It's a Wes Anderson film - with all the things that come with that to be expected.
Make sure you see it. -
Hugo 2011
Hugo was a beautiful story that hit me emotionally in a way that few movies manage. And that's the thing that stood out to me, the story. I feel like everyone was on board with the director's vision, and the kids brought brilliant performances. Be sure to see this one, but opt for 2D to avoid the annoyances of the 3D presentation.
