Stunning, disturbing and hilarious. This dark satire from Roy Andersson, who is surely one of cinema's most important working directors, is startling, original and fascinating, evoking the bitter humour of Luis Bunuel shot with the cold stare and cynicism of Robert Bresson or Michael Haneke. I love this film, for all its inventiveness, and every single brilliant scene.
