The Skin I Live In 2011 ★★★★½

Pedro Almodovar's latest film is arguably one of his best, right up there with the masterworks such as Talk to Her and Volver. A twisted, dark story that treads the thin line between scientific experimentation and physical abuse, it is carried by a brilliant central performance from Antonio Banderas. Almodovar's direction is smooth and slick and allows the very unlikely tale to be told seamlessly and believably in a fashion that will admittedly appeal more to arthouse fans but has surprisingly been embraced in the mainstream too. A really great, effective horror film.
