    Captain America: Civil War 2016

    ★★★½ Watched 02 May, 2016

While DC tried to give us the greatest gladiator match of all time (tried and failed), Marvel decided to keep it light and fun by bringing Spider-Man and Ant Man to the fight. And thank god for that as they are the highlights in what turned out to be a rather disappointing film on the whole. No matter how many exploding trucks these indestructible superheroes throw each other through, or how many times they punch each other in the face,…

If you are the sort of person that chats a lot of shit and meet somebody else who also chats a lot of shit then you better hold onto that person because they are going to be the only one who'll put up with your boring arse.

At least I think that was the message, I got distracted by that pinball table.

Surprisingly emotional comeback story that I thought I'd better see before Creed comes to Sky...

Arrows. Arrows. Arrows. Swords. Death. Spears. Death. Arrows. Death. Bombs. Death. Arrows. Death. Shields. Death. Arrows. Death. Fire. Death. Arrows. Death. Boats. Death. Arrows. Peace.

The bit when somebody fights while holding a baby made me chuckle.

I'm going to miss Catnip, it's been one wonderfully silly journey into the world of YA when you think back on what's gone down over the course of the four films. But thankfully now there is closure, I can go back to watching films made for old adults again...well, if it wasn't for those lads who just ran out of that maze that is...

We must destroy the very existence of this film, for when the singularity happens and our new computer master has stopped watching cat videos and stumbled upon this...well shit. I'm wrapping copper netting around my head and buying some sunflower seeds, at least I think that was the message. I so wanted them to make Morgan Freeman president at the end.

  • Reign of Fire

    Reign of Fire 2002

    ★★★ Rewatched 28 Mar, 2016

I only watched this because I had one of those debilitating hangovers that all the episodes of Friends could never cure, so Dragons it was! I love that Bale lives in a castle hiding from the dragon that killed his mother and that McConaughey is so intense he's literally on the verge of tears in every single scene...but most of all these guys are in this movie about a world destroyed by dragons. Well, it was funny to me at the time...huh, dragons. Yep, still funny. The effects do hold up well, perhaps not Bale's beard. Knowing him he probably made it himself.

  • Drug War

    Drug War 2012

    ★★★★ Watched 27 Mar, 2016

For most of the running time I felt that the title was a little over the top, but the stunning climax more than lives up to it. A brutal thriller that establishes character and setting at break neck pace, pushing you deeper into the murky waters of drug trafficking where honour is washed away by the instinct to survive.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2016

    ★★★ Watched 26 Mar, 2016

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

The idea of Batman having to fight Superman is stupid for so many reasons, lets not waste time getting into that - a film that has to try and set up such an event is clearly stupid, and most of the flaws here are due to just that. It's a stupid film, but the title kind of gives that away and I went, maybe not ready to embrace the stupid, but very very aware of it. You could probably cut…

  • Inside Out

    Inside Out 2015

    ★★½ Watched 26 Mar, 2016

Pretty dark at times, could see the little girl's path leading to a padded cell once the 'loveable' group of incompetent emotions managed to lose all her marbles during moments of mild peril. The concept was solid, but wanted the outside events to be a bit more interesting, with more interaction between peoples messed up heads. Looking forward to the teen years...maybe shoot for an R-rated sequel!
