'I'm just a man in can' - Tony Stark
After Iron Man 2 disappointed and The Avengers kicked it out of the park, what next for Robert Downey Jr and old shell head?
Happily, Shane Black delivered in spades for the third solo outing of Tony Stark a.k.a Iron Man. The film has humour and action aplenty.
Downey Jr is brilliant as ever as Stark, he has really made the role his own, I hope that he signs a new…
I love this movie, it is one of my favourite comedies. I have fond memories of watching it when I was a kid. I kept saying to my girlfriend that she should watch it with me. One night, she did.
One of her first comments was 'this movie is incredibly dated'. Looking at it with fresh eyes made me realise that it is a little dated. Some of the racist comments from the Duke brothers made me wince a little…
I hadn't seen this movie since I watched it in the cinema in 2005. I remember not being very keen on it.
After watching it for the second time I was pleasantly surprised. Spielberg did a great job adapting the classic story of martians invading Earth and attempting to wipe humanity from the face of the earth.
Tom Cruise plays Ray, a washed up single dad who is totally disengaged from his kids and is a total loser. Ray has…
I think Lucas should go back to the original trilogy and instead of inserting bad CGI creatures and wanky effects should change all references to Han Solo to 'Carlos Spicyweiner'.
The first time I watched this I wasn't that familiar with Family Guy. I enjoyed it but didn't get some of the jokes.
Now as Family Guy fan, I went back to this and enjoyed it a lot more. It's fast and funny, with the gags hitting more than they miss.
I'm not a prude and I'd like to think that I have a good sense of humour but it still really annoys me that Herbert is cast in the…
This film is the reason I fell in love with Cinema and the reason it has dominated my life for 33 years.
It was Summer, 1980. I was 5 years old and had no idea what as about to happen to me. My parents took me and my 10 year old brother to the cinema. I sat there with the biggest cup of orange juice in the world and waited...
The 20th century fox logo and fanfare appeared and I…
I was so disappointed with this film that I can't even be arsed to write a full review of it.
Sam Neill's performance is the best thing about this movie (with Jerry Goldsmith's score being excellent as always). Damien is now an adult and in charge of the Thorn company, as well as advancing his way up the political ladder with one eye firmly fixed on the Oval Office.
Damien's rise to power is threatened by the second coming of…
This landmark horror movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. When watching it at the grand old age of 37 it doesn't have quite the same effect, though it is still suitably creepy and has genuinely scary moments (David Warner's haircut being a standout). Jerry Goldsmith's score is perfect and really contributes to the scare factor.
Jason Reitman and Diablo Cody reunite again after the success of 'Juno' to create this rather uncomfortable comedy that has an excellent central performance from Charlize Theron. Well worth watching (though I watched most of the movie through my fingers).
Theron's character Mavis has very questionable intentions, returning back to her hometown with the mission of seducing her ex boyfriend and stealing him back, regardless of the fact he is happily married and has just had a baby.
Even though Mavis is a total bitch, Theron plays her so well that at times I did feel sorry for her, for a few seconds anyway.
I am a huge fan of Judd Apatow and I felt like I was one of the few people that really enjoyed Funny People.
I had concerns before going into the cinema to watch 'This Is 40'. I'd read some bad reviews, Leslie Mann's character Deb annoyed the shit out of me in 'Knocked Up' and I was worried about her stepping up front and centre for this 'sort of sequel to Knocked Up'.
I'll be honest, Deb annoyed the…
