Before Midnight 2013
Jesse and Celine are pretty much the same people they were when they first met - just a whole lot older. This series will probably go down as one of the most realistic and non-cliched romance series in cinematic history.

Naked Lunch 1991
Definitely the most weird film you'll see about hallucinatory drugs and repressed homosexuality.

Man of Steel 2013
This film is clearly using Batman Begins' formula, with the first half being flashback/exposition heavy, and I can't say it was as successful in that area. However, once the action picked up in the second half, I found myself enjoying the film more.

Mistaken For Strangers 2013
What begins as a somewhat goofy tour diary about The National becomes an emotional journey of self-discovery for a man in the shadow of his more famous older brother.

Rumble in the Bronx 1996
This film was hyped as Jackie Chan's first American role, even though the film is still technically a Hong Kong production.
While the action was good, the acting was absolutely horrendous (made worse by the overdubbing), with most of the characters being nothing but stereotypes. Then of course, there are the infamous shots of the Vancouver mountains, even though the film was set in New York.
Even though it's not perfect, Rush Hour (released two years later) was a much better American Jackie Chan film.

Drunken Master 1978
Even though the plot was a little weak and only an excuse to stitch together the countless martial arts battles, this was still a quite enjoyable and funny film.
It was the dubbed version of the film that screened, which actually added to the charm of the film (especially with the bad dialog).

This Is the End 2013
This is probably the best thing Seth Rogen and company has done in a while. The film works as a meta examination of the Judd Apatow alumni in the cast, all while providing gloriously over-the-top (and gory) apocalyptic horror/comedy. The third act alone is worth the price of admission.

A Better Tomorrow 1986
Good ol' John Woo with his epic gunfights and family melodrama.
-
A Chinese Ghost Story 1988
Martial arts romance meets Evil Dead with some hilariously mistranslated subtitles.

The East 2013
Like the other two Brit Marling-written films, The East focuses a bit more on character development than its eco-terrorist thriller premise.

Hava Nagila: The Movie 2012
A humorous look at the history of the infamous Jewish folk song. Being non-Jewish, a lot of the specific references to the culture went over my head. However, I still enjoyed the doc (and learned via a Leonard Nimoy talking head that the Vulcan hand gesture is based on one in a Jewish ceremony).
