  • The Great Gatsby 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 16 May, 2013

Everything that should be great about Baz Luhrmann's GREAT GATSBY are actually the let downs.

Visually the decadent, excessive 1920's should work well for Baz Luhrmann's over-the-top eye, but this film is really ugly in places. Loads of green screen and dodgy CGI landscapes.

The modern soundtrack is distracting and never quiet sits right.

Most surprising of all is that Leo Di C doesn't steal the show as Gatsby and is actually out-shone by Joel Edgerton.

Leo's performance is a bit wet and creepy.

  • Animal Kingdom 2010

    ★★★½ Watched 11 May, 2013

Some fantastic performances push the film along but I was never really gripped by the story or fully convinced of the characters motivations.

  • Oz: The Great and Powerful 2013

    ★★★½ Watched 14 Mar, 2013 2

Army of Darkness for people who love computer game cut sequences.

There's enough Sam Raimi in it to make it interesting and the film picks up when the practical style stuff kicks in towards the end.

Better than Alice in Wonderland anyway....
