The Bench 2000
Watched Jul 15, 2012
Keith’s review:
Had no expectations of this film at all. I mean how interesting can a film be of watching a drunk guy on a bench. Well, as it turns out, very interesting. Jesper Christensen delivers an excellent performance as Kaj, a grumpy old man with plenty of demons. When a battered mother and her child show up in his neighbourhood, he is roped in to help and consequently has some tough choices to make. I particularly found the ending to be very good and in character.
I was completely blown away by this when I watched it a good while back. Are you going to watch the rest of the trilogy? I still haven't gotten around to it. Rarely am I up for the social realism films that Danes too often tend to make.
Trilogy? Which are the other two films? Sure you aren't thinking of the Pusher Trilogy?
No, man, I know ;) I'm a dane, I should know. Part 2 and Part 3. I haven't watched them, but I'm pretty sure they are not directly connected. It is called the Denmark trilogy.
A Dane called Aaron? ;-)
just read up about them on IMDB. They can't be a true trilogy as Jesper Christensen is in Part 3 too. Anyhow, I will definitely watch them if i come across them.
Me ma' irish, you see ;)
Well, it must be easier for the Danes to pronounce than Keith. :-p
Not at all, far from it. They know Keith Richards ;)
Well, all rhe Danes I have ever met couldn't pronounce his name correctly either. They did know the name, they just couldn't say it correctly. Anyway... nok om det... ,-)
