The Cassandra Crossing 1976 ★★★

Watched Jul 15, 2012

At 2 hours, it is probably about half an hour too long. There are definitely bits in the beginning and the middle that could very easily have been discarded to make it a leaner and more engaging film. Instead what we have is a film that is quintessentially 70s, where almost from the very beginning the major question gets asked (what about the Cassandra Crossing?) and then we plod towards the final 5 minutes of the film, when we find out what happens. A lot of good acting talent, most of which deliver a good performance. It makes for a good and somewhat thrilling film, but one that could have used either a bit of cutting or some more interesting subplots/leaner direction.
