Mockumentaries require such a fleet touch; DISTRICT 9 flubs it for 30 minutes, then abandons the pretense altogether. All to excuse grubby CGI? I don't find DISTRICT 9's unanswered questions ambiguous in a good way (e.g. why the UFO, why the malnourished crew, who moved the module, etc.).
Although the firing range scene was the movie's best, DISTRICT 9 trips over its HALO roots; like its villains, it slavers over wicked-cool firepower.
