Film #19 of the June Challenge
It's no secret that Robert Redford and Paul Newman made one hell of a team. I watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid a little while ago and was impressed, but slightly underwhelmed. I was told that I would enjoy The Sting more and that turned out to be true! It's just so much fun - poker, revenge, sexy leads, alcoholics, bromance, bad people, shouting… I probably sound like a broken record at this point, but well-done crime films really grab me. Even though this isn't as inventive as Butch/Sundance, the story here is much more intricately plotted , twisty, and exceptionally paced. I had to pay very close attention so that I wouldn't miss anything. The Sting is a veritable classic I suspect will grow on me even more with time.
