Goodness gracious. The first time I saw this movie I was blown away because so many of the scenes looked exactly how they did in the graphic novel. Seeing a book I had admired for so long literally come to life on the screen in front of me was a singular experience. Unfortunately, as soon as the lights came up I realized that as exciting as some of it was, it simply was not a good movie. With the exception of Jackie Earle Haley and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the film is hilariously miscast and a LOT of important elements from the novel were altered or eliminated entirely, most notably the ending is completely reworked and botched, in my opinion. Alan Moore is famously quoted as calling this novel "unfilmable" and he may have been proven right.
