This is a better Punisher movie than the one that came out in 2004 starring Tom Jane. It starts strong with some brutal violence and doesn't force us to watch another origin story. As Frank Castle, Ray Stevenson looks the part of a seasoned killer with nothing to lose.

...However, after the strong opening the movie quickly becomes very silly. Dominic West is a great actor but he is so over the top in this that it almost distracts from his unconvincing face make-up. Many of the supporting characters are equally ridiculous, but the worst have to be the parkour bad guys who are eventually dispensed of in a way that defies logic. (A heat seeking missile that tracks humans? What?)

The dreadlocked parkour guy also gets the award for having the worst accent (Irish? Jamaican?) in a movie full of bad accents.

Despite its flaws, the gore and Ray Stevenson still make this a fun watch for fans.
