To the Wonder 2013
First Malick I did not like very much.

The Great Gatsby 1974
Astonishingly stiff for a movie made in the heyday of New Hollywood. Not really bad, but I honestly disliked the scenes scriptwriter Coppola thought he had to invent: Gatsby and Daisy whispering love in his house, in the middle of the film, this part looks and feels like bad TV soap opera. The material certainly needed a makeover badly, and Baz Luhrman's version does exactly that (though it may have its own flaws.). On the upside: Karen Black as Myrtle is wonderful, just look at this scene: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhRABm5GgHc

The Great Gatsby 2013
"What'll we do with ourselves this afternoon, and the day after that, and the next thirty years?"
"A little party never killed nobody
So we gon’ dance until we drop, drop
A little party never killed nobody

The Broken Circle Breakdown 2012
You can't tell a kid there is no heaven. But as a grown-up, you should deal with it.

Heißes Pflaster Köln 1967
On the one hand, this film clearly shows that Germany in the Sixties did not have a director who comes even close to Melville. On the other hand, this is some highly entertaining, sensual piece of film.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi 2008
Wonderful. Didn't know I could like a Bollywood movie that much. Khan is spectacular in his double role as a silent nerd and an over the top macho caricature. Comic, melodrama, vast musical sequences. And of course, as always in Bollywood, a completely ridiculous premise.

The Night of the Hunter 1955
Just a little more of the singing, and this would be a musical.
