This is a tough film to watch. It's very long, dialogue is sparse and it's all very subtle. The emotions of the lead character are clearly troubling, but there's no externalisation whatsoever. You have to pay attention the whole way through because otherwise you'll easily miss the little nuances that are so important to the film.
The pace is of a tortoise on valium. Very slow. But it's kind of meditative just watching this woman go about her daily business. The camera is basically static the whole way through; as still as a photograph. The lead performance is pretty much incredible. As I said, the emotions are there but very subtly and I'd imagine it's very difficult to pull that off and she does a marvelous job.
I don't know if I could watch this film again however. It takes a lot out of you. But it's definitely worth watching at least once.
