Minority Report 2002 ★★★★★

Rewatched May 24, 2012

One of the best Spielberg films for me, easily. The story is rich, both in that its based off of a Philip K. Dick story and more that the alterations and additions to that story are shockingly well implemented and intelligent. It's an outstanding sci-fi film with very inspired visuals and a strong message, but it's made all the better by the fact that at its heart, Minority Report is really a murder mystery that takes place in the future; science fiction is always better when the science isn't overwhelming the fiction.

Also, Tom Cruise is legitimately awesome here. This, along with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, shows his versatility as an action star who can still accomplish so much as an actor. And the John Williams score, when it's not needlessly reverting to Indiana Jones during chase sequences, is (surprisingly) varied and fitting.
