Aaron T. Rex’s review:
Matt Damon is far and away the best thing about the film. He is pretty amazing. Very understated but everything he does is interesting and gripping. There is a scene near the end with him and a camera. Stunning. That really got me. I wish he would've been the clear lead since the connected storyline-thing didn't entirely work for me. Everyone does a fine job, but some parts felt rushed and others just weren't very interesting.
I also loved the score. It almost sounds like a virus.
Both Damon and the score really are phenomenal.
They are. Absolutely loved Damon.
Never saw Damon as being a standout in this. Definitely need a re-watch, as I have no idea what camera thing you are referring to.
I could see him not being a standout since it's very subtle. I just connected with it for some reason. So if you weren't particularly invested in his storyline, I guess you wouldn't have thought anything special of him. Did you like the film, FilmApe?
@Aaron: Just rewatched it, and liked it even more this second time around. Your right that the Damon camera scene is awesome, but I love every storyline so much that I can't say he gives the standout performance. One of Soderbergh's best.
@FilmApe - I think you're onto something. The more I think about it the better it gets. Might have to rewatch it before too long.
