Aaron T. Rex’s review:
Improved like a wonder upon rewatch. Can't believe that I didn't love this first time around, it's amazing. This is a contender for best Willis performance ever. He is absolutely incredible. The oneliners are stumbling over each other, trying to exit his mouth first. It's a delight to watch. Fabulous screenwriting.
And then some.
One of the greatest opening scenes ever.
It's actually filmed really great. T.S. shows off some real good skills.
Just want to point out that screenwriting is about A LOT more than just dialogue. In fact, dialogue is not even half of what constitutes screenwriting. A lot of people don't realize that. The writer writes EVERYTHING...every single action, every scene, the arrangement of every scene, the position of every scene, the purpose of every scene, every character, every character relationship, every motivation, every goal, everything at stake, every object, every movement, every idea, every single thing in the movie is written.
I remember a lot of people wondering why The Artist was nominated for so many screenwriting awards - not because it isn't great, but because they assumed it just didn't have a script.
But yes, Shane Black is the man. ;) And I desperately need to see this movie again.
