Aaron T. Rex’s review:
I can't believe I sort of forgot JUST how awesome this film is. Everything about it is perfect. There is not one single scene that should not be here. The pairing of Cage and Connery is genius. And the music! Hans, my man!
"All I care about is, are you happy with your haircut?" Great review, this movie totally rules.
There are so many memorable lines. My favorite will always be "Well, gosh, kind of a lot's happened since then.." Nic Cage's delivery of that line is perfect.
Agreed, favourite Cage movie?
If we're talking Cage movies it's close between Raising Arizona and Con Air. But there are so many Cage masterpieces! Bringing out the Dead and Leaving Las Vegas for example. And Face/Off. Goddamn, I love him! And if we're talking performance... don't make me go there. He has too many epic performances.
I just wish Cage was still doing good movies like the ones Aaron mentions.
@Aaron - Oh, I'm going to make you go there. Performance wise I think Cage in Vampire's Kiss is the best. His over the top performance matches the tone of the film perfectly. Seriously amazing.
@FilmApe - all right then.. Vampire's Kiss is up there. Along with Face/Off, Bad Lieutenant, Adaptation, Leaving Las Vegas and Raising Arizona. I just can't choose.. If I really had to... = Maybe Raising Arizona. If not, then Face/Off. "Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck you!"
Dr. Stanley Goodspeed may just be my favorite Cage character, and, without hyperbole, "The Rock" is one of the best action films ever.
It certainly is. Cage was the king of action movies back in the day.
The triumvirate of "The Rock," "Con Air," and "Face/Off" from the late 90s was very impressive.
Love it.
