Bloody hell Gene Kelly was a genius.
I only watched this because I was curious about the bit they use in Wall-E and WOW! As a man who really doesn't appreciate the musical this is a cracking bit of cinema.
Colour, movement, humour and the greatest cinematic curmudgeon of all time ... I'm sold.
Deserving of its best picture nomination in 69.

I can see what this was trying to do but unfortunately it just isn't made with anywhere near enough skill to succeed.

This was a rewatch in 2D with friends and even though I focused on some problem areas like the 'Short Round' character and the lack of Tony in the suit I still enjoyed it as much as the first watch. It's better than 2 and not as good as 1.
And Paltrow with her toned abs in yoga pants? schwiiiinngg!!!

I keep forgetting what a quality film and what an outstanding debut this is.
