Mud 2013
I'm not really sure what to say about Mud. I really liked Jeff Nichols' last film, Take Shelter, so I was excited to see what he would bring us next. Enter Mud, a beautifully shot film filled with life lessons for a 14-year old boy in the rural outskirts of Arkansas. Those lessons are mostly about love and relationships for Ellis, played very well by Tye Sheridan.

The Place Beyond the Pines 2013
Cianfrance provides us with a very interesting way to tell a story on the big screen. Breaking a dual-generational tale into three separate stories/acts is new and refreshing for me. The first act, with Gosling as the motorcyclist-cum-wannabe providing father is the best of the three. It contains the best acting from Gosling and Mendes and is a story that is easy to immerse yourself into.

A pleasant surprise. After reading the ad placed in the classifieds that is displayed on the movie poster, I figured this film was going to end up having some sort of ridiculous sci-fi aspect to it. The Sting 1973
The Sting is a caper film with a good amount of comedy and thrills built into it. Newman and Redford team up with Director George Roy Hill again after the success of 1969's Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and they put out another good one.
