Joe Breal’s review:
Cohen was absolutely hilarious in Borat and he brought something new and fresh to the world of comedy in film. Bruno was more of the same, but was nowhere near as funny and the homoerotic jokes got real old, real fast. The Dictator is the first of Cohen's films that is entirely scripted, unlike Borat and Bruno. He can't quite pull it off. While the character, Admiral Aladeen, works, nothing else about the film really does, from the Anna Faris character to, well, the jokes. I barely laughed, as most of the jokes were the same old, same old from Cohen and just came across as overdone.
