"Look at it. Its exotic, its deadly, its ALIVEEEEee..."
Mickey O'Flynn "the man with the grin" (Creed Bratton)
I've waited for what seems like light years for the indie b-movie homage that is 'The Ghastly Love of Johnny X', after seeing online promo showreels for it years ago. Sadly it fell flat of what I'd expected. I don't want to be harsh though, because its clear filmmaker Paul Bunnell (who helmed the cult micro budget classic 'That Little Monster') as clearly sweated blood to get it finished and released, but I just grew increasingly bored during it.
Gotta be honest the high amount of musical numbers was as much my reason for boredom as anything else, I hate the genre with a passion. Also it didn't feel authentic as a retro pastiche, like say the gems Larry Blamire churns out. Its not all bad, always nice seeing Reggie Bannister & Creed Bratton's performance was heaps of fun.
