For what it is - a dumb, entertaning action film - it does a damn pretty good job. Its just plain fun to watch all the comic book characters kicking ass and doing cool shit, and he layer of witty humor throughout is also a nice addition to the otherwise corny dialogue. My only real caveat is that the whole first half of the plot is utterly pointless, which is mainly due to the fact that you KNOW the avengers are going to win anyway, no matter what schemes the bad guys cook up. This leads to having to impatiently sit through lengthy dialogue sequences where you dont care about the outcome, and are just waiting for shit to hit the fan again.

I'd give this film a higher rating if it wasn't for the fact that an action film of this sort will always lack the depth or innovation to make it anything more than 'fun'. And for what its worth, Thor and The Hulk are the best heroes, and Hawk Eye sucks.
