We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because finally Ariel happened to me.

Sometimes I Think About Dying 2023
I really love the portrayal of loneliness and isolation in a corporate setting. The way Rachel Lambert establishes the atmosphere in the office and the dynamics of each employees in such a subtle yet careful way is quite brilliant and realistic. The plot is nothing I have seen before, but Sometimes I Think About Dying’s melancholic vibe and its brilliant ending makes it relatable and charming. And oh, we need more manic pixie dream guys.

Unfriended: Dark Web 2018
This is so frustrating because the set up is really good but the pay off is underwhelming. Ugh.

Blue Room 2022
Look, there is a lot of good intentions behind this film. Also, what a freaking well-made film (aside from the sound mixing, but it’s probably just the speakers? I don’t know), with that flawless cinematography and editing. The entire cast are amazing with what was given to them, with Soliman Cruz once again proving that he will chew and steal every scene he’s in. But… it just feels so weird seeing this type of story being told through the lens…

GomBurZa 2023
I really love Pepe Diokno’s lyrical and poetic approach to GOMBURZA; he strikes the balance between artsy and mainstream filmmaking, and the result is pretty spectacular. I also really like the softness of the film’s visuals, and I adore how Diokno frames his characters. The script has a lot of preachy dialogue and it can be a bit theatrical, but Diokno’s direction really elevates it. The cast is spectacular, with Enchong Dee delivering a surprisingly devastating performance. But the film belongs to Cedrick Juan, who gives a beautiful, subtle, and heartbreaking performance as Fr Burgos. A movie star is born.
