Feels more like a documentary than a story at times, meaning the pacing can feel odd and the characters underdeveloped. I liked the coverage of the intricacies of the operation, but could have done with some more context. Even Tom Cruise's protagonist undergoes no real transformation throughout the film, which thus ends up feeling a little flat. Despite this, there is a great array of acting talent on display, and if the shallowness of some of the storytelling doesn't put you off, there's a decent historical/political thriller to be had, especially once events really get going in the final third.
