Joseph William Lewis’s review:
Think of it as mumblecore sci-fi. Some of the time-travel elements are almost frustratingly ambiguous(*), but on the whole, it's entertaining, charming, funny, and emotional. Aubrey Plaza and Mark Duplass are both excellent in roles that play to their quirky, understated strengths, and each of them have scenes that did a number on my tear ducts. Also, I can't go without mentioning Duplass' "Big Machine," a beautiful recurring ballad which absolutely deserves a Best Original Song nomination come Oscar season.
(*) Seriously, I know there are multiple ways to interpret that ending, but the one that presents itself most obviously to me makes this the most depressing fucking movie ever.
