The Damned United 2009
It's a football film, yeah. Sure, a large part of it is a bunch of fellas having a go on a paddock but it's also more then that. You see, it's about this stubborn chap who has to come to terms with his obsessions and principles. Worthy of a gander.

Shaun of the Dead 2004
"As Bertrand Russell once said, 'The only thing that will redeem mankind is cooperation.' I think we can all appreciate the relevance of that now."
An instant classic that manages to avoid the sappy shortcomings of romantic comedies while still remaining faithful to the gruesome nature of horrors.

The Hurt Locker 2009
I saw this before Ben Gracewood. After that, I didn't watch it again for a good 2, maybe 3 weeks. Can't really remember since I was too busy discovering the next big thing before everyone else. Which was District 9 BTW.

Drive 2011
If you can make it through the horrifying opening — that is the hot-pink credits set in Mistral — you'll find a gripping synth-soaked thriller. Starring a brilliant Gosling reunited with Blue Valentine love Williams (convince me Mulligan isn't her), Drive is a quiet yet brutal piece of cinema.
