Tony D'Amico’s review:
I will start off by saying that I both like and dislike this film. I am a huge fan of both John Carpenter and Kurt Russell, and the character of Snake Pliskin is awesome. The cast is awesome, and thats one of the main reasons I like this film a lot.
The things I can't stand about this movie are the horrible CG. It is so ridiculous, especially in the surfing scene. I do realize that it is meant to be shit CG and that JC doesn't take himself seriously, at least I think he doesn't. Like if the surfing scene wasn't in the film, I might not have anything to complain about. But it is, and so that is regrettably why I can't love it. I know some would say i'm an asshole for making that the reason why i can't love it, but oh well.
Best scene in the film is maybe the basketball scene, it is pretty awesome, and the fact that Russell actually made every shot is doubly awesome. Anyway, like I said the cast is awesome, Pam Grier, Steve Buscemi, Stacey Keach, all awesome.
I can never say I hate it, but it isn't JC's best film.
