Rocky IV 1985

Tony D'Amico’s review:
Who doesn't love this film??????? IDK how anyone couldn't, Now i couldn't tell you how many times i've seen Rocky IV, but i would guess it's in the 100's. There were a few movies that from the age of 8 through the age of 17, If I wanted to just watch an awesome movie that had great entertainment value, and Rocky IV was on thet list.
Now I do realize as an adult now that it is extraordinarily cheesy, and there is about 30 minutes of montages, and like they run almost back to back to back. From the moment Rocky gets in the Lambo, thinking about the Apollo dying, and then there is a 5 minute break when Pauly and Rock travel to Russia. Then the next montage is Rocky training while he is rusty...till Adrian shows up and for 30 seconds the music stops until the superior training starts and Hearts on Fire starts. Probably one of the definitive 80's classic montage songs BTW, I mean it's got Stallones signature all over it. But I don't think there is another movie that makes you feel energized with optimism of Rocky beating Drago.
This is pretty easily my favorite Rocky film, simply because it is the most entertaining, even with almost half the film being a montage. And like I said, I know it's pure cheese, and probably wouldn't be considered a great film by most, but damn it, it's sure is entertaining as shit.
So in closing, I love this film, I know most of you do as well. So let's stop the hate on Rocky IV, i can't believe some people rate this as a 1 or 2 star film. I won't tell you your wrong, I just don't understand what you want from a film that is about a boxer that gets the shit beat out of him to win fights, travels to Russia to fight a guy twice his size, and my some ridiculous miracle beats him and also gives a speech about how the politics should change for the better, seconds after he got beaten with a metaphorical hammer for 12 rounds or whatever. Oh yeah and the film was directed by the main actor, lower your expectations a little and you will enjoy films more i think.
One of the most entertaining movies of all time.
I couldn't agree more, hope the review isn't too long winded
Have to agree. Rocky IV is my favourite of the series too. Also Vince DiCola rocks!
I have always been a Rocky nerd/fan (I've just turned 28) and without a doubt Rocky IV is my favourite.
"If he dies, he dies."
I wouldn't call it my favorite (that would be the first one), and it certainly isn't the best (of the series), but it's probably the one I've seen most times. It's just so damn entertaining, fast-paced and fun. It's basically one long montage... and I love it.
Yeah, i agree it isn't the best, like you said the first one is probably the highest quality film. It is just like Predator for me, if i'm flipping channels and it pops on, i'm done flipping channels regardless of what point in the film is on. It's almost like it's illegal to not watch.
Classic. "I must break you."
Which Rocky movie did you see first? I have a theory that people who watched the series in order can't appreciate IV as much.
Well IV came out when I was about 6, so I'm sure this was the first one that I watched. I remember watching it a lot, like every weekend, my uncle had a copied VHS tape after it was released for rental. I wore that VHS out in about 4 years and I would guess I watched it about 100 times from the age 7-10. Rocky IV and Rambo:First Blood part II
