this reminded me so much of 'thrillers' from the 90's and early 00's, i think if this was released just after 'Along Came a Spider' it would of been better received.
i enjoyed Tyler Perry [my first time seeing him in anything] in this; he was different from Morgan Freeman's Alex, i've not read the books to know which performance is more in keeping with the author's description of him
its strange that this is STILL one of the best pure-action films ever made, and its over twenty years old.
one of the main reasons i think that this is still a standout film is that all of the effects are practical [i think] rather than CGI which makes everything going on on-screen so much more life-like with the stunt men really working for their paychecks
