How many pass the reverse Bechdel test as well?
Most of them? Bridesmaids may not, because it's pretty specific.
(Not that I think that's a meaningful test of anything)
Very true, an amusing one though :)
I don't know if you are up for suggestions, but 2 that I have seen fairly recently are Repulsion (1965) and Please Give (2010).
A few Bergman films fit the bill: Persona, Autumn Sonata, The Silence and Cries and Whispers to name but a few. The Page Turner, Mulholland Drive and Daughters of Darkness too.
Thanks Adam – adding now!
Thanks Lise – definitely up for suggestions. I'll add those two now.
How about Death Proof? I love the banter among the women who talk about cars and their favorite stunt movies.
Yes, good one! Thanks Beatrice.
Oh man, I thought I was the first to bring this test to Letterboxd here. My premise is a tad different though.
Sam, I like the idea of listing the films that don't pass the test. I'll contribute to your list as I watch them as well.
His Girl Friday (1940) passes the test.
