It seems really good action flicks don't come around to often. Most are just okay and don't come anywhere near the excitement level of "Die Hard" which is still the film everyone uses as the epitome of action. I rank some Asian films like "Hard Boiled" right up there, too.
"Olympus Has Fallen" is a better than average contender that pays a bit more direct homage to "Die Hard" than just being referred to as "Die Hard in the White House." There are a few groaner scenes, but the action is relentless enough that you quickly forget about them. Overall a pretty fun film.
While not a great film, I really found Oz to be a really fun film. While it's aimed towards kids, the film felt like a Sam Raimi film should. I'm not sure how to describe what one of his films feels like unless you're already a fan. The way he moves the camera is part of his signature.
