Carl Ingebretsen’s review:
What do we have here; a horror film with an interesting premise that actually follows through with it? A 12 year old made-for-tv-movie that manages to be better than most of the dull dreck we've gotten in the horror genre these later years? A creepy, funny and interesting horror film with something to say?
Yes. All of the above, actually. Although it meanders a bit after a certain part, it never really becomes boring. There are some one-note characters here, per usual in horror films, but they somehow manage to be interesting as well. Judd Nelson is great as the "screenwriter from hell" in a role that's actually fun to watch.
I liked this a lot. Sure, it's got plenty of flaws, but it was well-directed and pretty well-written too. I jumped, laughed and was severely creeped out by some of the scenes.
It's an interesting and different horror movie that still manages to be creepy, inventive (one of the early scenes were really, really cool) and make me jump. I liked it a lot.
