List by Carl Ingebretsen Pro
Dialogue is King
Sure, story is well and good, but it's the dialogue that breathes life into the characters. And you know what? Sometimes, good dialogue is all you need.
This is a list of the films with superb dialogue, whatever the genre. I don't care if the story is horrible or predictable, if the direction is silly and simple; if the dialogue is great, it's going on this list.
Suggestions are appreciated.
His Girl Friday is a must for this list.
Happiness should be added. Amazing dialog.
Thought of another one, maybe my prime suggestion so far. Kicking and Screaming (1995).
I will suggest True Romance - some of the dialogue from Christan Slater regarding Elvis are hilarious and inspired; on top of that, two of the greatest, most off the wall scenes in cinema history - the Gary Oldman "Drexl" scene and the Dennis Hopper/Christopher Walken scene - both crackling with amazing dialogue. Not to mention plenty of hilarious one-liners.
2001: A Space Odyssey
what about miller crossing ?
I need to rewatch True Romance before putting it on this list. Adding Pulp Fiction, though.
Are there any more Coen-flicks that have superb dialogue? Better than their usual fair, I mean.
How about Before Sunrise?
Casablanca is a must be on this list.
Never seen Before Sunrise/Sunset. I'll check them out!
I didn't like Casablanca thatmuch when I first saw it. When I'll get around to rewatching it, I'll add it (if I feel it's appropriate).
