Toy Story 1995
Haven't seen it in years, but this time paid attention to technical aspects. This film came out completely before physics simulation of any kind and it's fascinating to watch the film cut around very dodgy rope/string/cloth animation by minimizing shot lengths or framing emphasis. Roman Polanski's English-language debut.
An apartment-cum-pressure cooker offers marvellous opportunities for stark, noir photography, but perhaps the best thing about this film is Polanski's decision to drop out sound effects almost completely for scenes of hallucinated, horrific assault.
