  • Damsels in Distress 2012

    ★★★½ Added

If you're intelligent, quirky and can appreciate the feel of an indie film, you'll really enjoy this film like I did. If not... maybe give this a miss.

The characters and dialogue are the centre of Damsels in Distress and quite often they are as random as they are hilarious. "This soap is what gives me hope." Greta Gerwig made this film what it is, her serious persona gave the humour a dryness that worked for me.

  • Lars and the Real Girl 2007

    ★★★★ Watched 09 Aug, 2012

What appeared to be a silly premise turned out to be an unusual and insightful take on the effects of living/coping with loneliness. For anyone who ever feels lonely, I think this film could be a heart-warming escape. You finish feeling hope and comfort after witnessing what the human spirit can overcome.

As usual Ryan Gosling was incredible (as were the entire supporting cast) If you're a person who's looking for a silly film with cheap laughs, look elsewhere, because this film has depth.
