Well nothing cleanses the fine art pallet like Commando. I just wonder if in 1985 they knew how ridiculous it is? probably not, the fact that they are totally taking it serious is I suppose what makes it work. This film is more or less the template for all cheesy action flicks. This was the apex of the cheese decade. The script is a wonderful and efficient machine. We need to establish John as a loving father that cares only for his daughter so we get a short montage where they eat ice cream that ends up on Arnold's nose while they laugh, next they are petting a gentle deer, swimming and cooking dinner ect. it really stays that ridiculous and doesn't let up.
