Dan Gorman’s review published on Letterboxd :
Maniac Cop -- from William Lustig (Maniac) and written by Larry Cohen -- is just a real solid piece of 80s thriller filmmaking. Part pseudo-slasher with some faint supernatural vibes, Maniac Cop is through-and-through entertaining right down to the final minute. Larry Cohen is such a great writer (and director), he really doesn't get the praise he deserves. William Lustig is no slacker either, his output is pretty much stacked with gems. The final stunt in this movie (without spoiling: launching off the dock) is an all-time favourite of mine. I can't watch this flick without rewinding it at least one time.
