Ron’s review:
I've always wanted to see this film but for some reason kept putting it off. What a powerful film! I've seen a lot of films starring Edward Norton since this was released, but this has to be one of his finest performances. Edward Furlong gives a solid performance, and this was an outstanding feature film debut for director Tony Kaye. I highly recommend this film.
Edward Furlong... wasn't he in The Proposition (2005)? That's a great film, too.
I thought The Proposition was OK but I'm pretty sure Edward Furlong wasn't in it.
Whoops... you're right, Furlong wasn't in that one. I remember him from T2: Judgment Day. :-)
I had no idea you hadn't seen this film! I'm glad you finally watched it though, it's really a great film.
@Zach I'd seen bits and pieces over the years, but for some reason It kept getting put on the back burner. I'm glad I finally watched it because although it's a little dated it's really good.
@Corey Yeah after T2 and American History X he hasn't done anything of note. I think he had drug issues or something.
When you say this is a powerful film, that might be an understatement. In addition to it being one of Norton's absolute finest performances, the social commentary regarding racism in America, is also one of the best in modern films.
I agree especially at the time this film was released, and I'd say this probably is Norton's finest performance. I've always liked him as a actor, but it seems like his films are crap more often than not nowadays.
You may be right.
I agree excellent film.
I love this film, awesome review..
@Javier Thanks!
Nice review ron, A classic.
@Unni Thanks! I wish I would of seen it sooner.
