Ron’s review:
As a lifelong horror fan this film was a fucking treat back in 2004. A horror film with a solid story and a great fucking villain! Are you fucking kidding me that pretty much never happens. For a genre which is known for cheap thrills and weak stories Saw was an absolute game changer. Call it torture porn if you want, but there is some pretty good filmmaking going on here. The story was pretty damn original and it's been mimicked quite a bit since then. Tobin Bell as Jigsaw is one of the greatest onscreen villains of all time if you ask me. He's up there with guys like Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter and Kevin Spacey as John Doe in Se7en! With all that said what makes this film is it's absolutely awesome "I never saw that shit coming ending" that's one of the best endings I've ever seen. Saw is simply a great horror film and pretty damn good film overall. The only thing that hurts it is some of the acting especially Cary Elwes is pretty weak. It doesn't matter much though because the good here far outshines a few acting hiccups! I highly recommend this film and the first sequel. The rest can be missed.
50 Shades of Saw.
@Ahab hahaha!
@Ron, ok, you've changed my mind.
@Del, nevermind, pal.
@Ahab, LOL.
@Wenderlly I have? Damn that doesn't happen very often ; ) Enjoy Se7en and be sure to post a review. I'm interested to know what you make of it.
@Ron, What can I say? I'm a openminded guy. haha Sure, I've already decided to write reviews on every film a watch from now. ( ;
@Ron, *now on. / Damn, this site needs an 'edit' button.
@Wenderlly Well that's a good thing. I write reviews for everything I watch.
