The Dark Knight 2008
Part of Batman double bill at Cineworld. The 2nd best performance on film ever. (1st being Brandon Lee in The Crow). Brilliant story, brilliant characters, well written, well directed and the magic trick with the pencil made me literally 'lol'.

Moonrise Kingdom 2012
Nice story about young love and adventure with a very strong cast. I am a bit confused at how they got away with shooting some of the fairly explicit scenes with a minor though.

The Cabin in the Woods 2012
The trailer really undersells this brilliant film, but I understand fully why they left so much out. I can't say much without giving things away, but this is one of the most original horror films I have seen in a very long time.

The Hunger Games 2012
Simply a watered down Battle Royale for the Twilight generation. Take 1 brilliant film, change the characters, add a love triangle and people with stupid beards and you have this. I also did not like how often the company behind the games got involved or how fickle they were with the rules. Only positive thing was a fairly decent character played by Woody Harrelson.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2012
Having despised the other Spider-Man films, I was happy to hear that this was getting a re-boot. This is much much closer to the comics and is actually a very good film. Andrew Garfield looks very very young, but plays the character perfectly and the suit itself also looks awesome in this.

Batman Begins 2005
Part of Batman double bill at Cineworld. Good backstory, good performances and well acted, but let down by the antagonists. The main antagonist is just a normal man and the scarecrow is hardly in it. Still a lot here to enjoy though and easily the best Batman film at the time of it's release.

21 Jump Street 2012
Just as funny the 2nd time. Possibly the best comedy since Hot Fuzz? And that was 5 years ago!

21 Jump Street 2012
1 of the best comedies I've seen since Hot Fuzz. Non stop laugh out loud moments and easily Jonah Hill's best character and film to date. Brilliant script, acting and comic timing as well as a nice throwback to the 1987 tv series with cameos from Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise.

The Grey 2012
Fairly dissapointing. It set the scene perfectly and the characters were varied and believable, but (SPOILER) about half way through, Neeson declares war on the wolves and says that they have to kill them 1 by 1, like the the wolves are doing to them, but from that point on, I think they only kill 1 wolf. Instead of turning the hunted into the hunters, they just keep running until they're all dead. Very poor story writing. Which is a shame because this could have been a classic.

The Descendants 2011
An entertaining film that tackles some interesting themes in a very realistic and unforced way. Definately worth watching, but not 1 for rewatching.
