I remember when I first saw this, fifteen years ago and thought that it was just an incredibly entertaining, fun action movie with a great soundtrack. It's still all of that, but seeing it again in 1080p its clear that every shot in the film is perfect. There is not a wasted frame, and the sound and vision move together in perfect harmony.
The only reason for four stars and not five is so I have room to go up as I go through Leone's devastatingly brief canon of six films.
Leone & Morricone burst onto the scene, fully formed and totally synchronized. A beautiful symphony of sound and vision, of violence and pathos.
