This is a story about two parents who take an enormous risk, and one who is oblivious the feelings of his daughter. Both plot points can be believable, but we need to spend sometime in the characters heads. But the camera stays far away from their faces, and meaty dialogue doesn’t come until the second half.
This movie, in short, is contrived. But its skeleton - a quiet story about a man who had been so wounded by his daughter who he so loves - is beautiful.
